Daybreak Foods has embarked on a ground-breaking partnership with the Youth Employment Service (YES) programme, aiming to combat youth unemployment in South Africa by opening doors to careers in agriculture and related industries.

This initiative underscores Daybreak Foods’ commitment to social responsibility and economic development, offering 104 young individuals invaluable work experience across the company’s diverse operations.

Richard Manzini, CEO of Daybreak Foods, has been instrumental in championing opportunities within the agribusiness sector. Recently, his engagements at Mpumalanga University and Fort Hare University have not only showcased the sector’s potential for driving economic growth but have also inspired a new generation to consider agribusiness as a promising career path.

“The impact of such partnerships cannot be overstated,” asserts Manzini. “They play a pivotal role in equipping youth with the skills and experience necessary to thrive in today’s competitive job market. By focusing on agribusiness, Daybreak Foods is nurturing talent in a sector critical to South Africa’s food security and sustainability.”

Manzini emphasises Daybreak’s commitment to advancing transformation in agriculture, addressing its historical challenges head-on.

“Job creation and preservation, particularly for youth, are integral to our investment mandate. This initiative is not just about corporate responsibility; it’s a strategic investment in our nation’s future,” he affirms.

The collaboration with the YES programme exemplifies the power of private sector engagement in youth empowerment. It sets a precedent for other corporations, highlighting the importance of investing in the next generation of workers for broader societal benefit.

“With South Africa grappling with high youth unemployment rates, initiatives like ours are crucial,” explains Manzini. “This partnership with the YES programme isn’t merely about giving back; it’s about forging a path to a more prosperous and inclusive economy.”

Looking ahead, Daybreak Foods remains committed to shaping a brighter future. “We are writing a better future not out of necessity, but out of duty to our youth and our nation,” Manzini declares.
