Distribution Manager

DAYBREAK FOODS requires the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results-driven candidate to manage the efficient distribution of goods, ensuring that products are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining high standards of customer service and quality. The Distribution Manager oversees the daily operations of distribution, including transportation, reverse logistics, and customer order fulfilment

Key Performance Areas

‍

Distribution Management

• Manage the entire distribution process, ensuring timely and accurate fulfilment of customer orders.
• Optimise distribution routes and transportation methods to reduce costs and improve delivery times.
• Coordinate with third-party logistics providers to secure the best services and rates.

Reverse Logistics

• Oversee the reverse logistics process, including returns, recycling, and disposal.
• Develop strategies to efficiently handle returned products and minimise associated costs.
• Ensure processes and systems are in place for Proof of Delivery (POD) management, crediting returns to customer accounts, and
• proper filing of route packs and documents for record-keeping.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to manage reverse logistics in compliance with company policies and
• regulatory requirements.

Transportation Management

• Manage the fleet of vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations.
• Monitor transportation costs and develop strategies to improve efficiency.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards, including OHS and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

People Management

• Lead, motivate, and develop distribution staff, including drivers, warehouse personnel, and logistics coordinators.
• Manage staff performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary procedures.

Customer Service

• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering products on time and resolving distribution-related issues promptly.
• Collaborate with the Sales and Customer Service teams to meet customer requirements and improve on service delivery.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process improvements in distribution operations.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements

Education & Experience:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or any related field
• Professional Certifications in Logistics an added advantage
• At least 5 years’ managerial experience in distribution and logistics environment
• FMCG/Agriculture industry experience will be an added advantage.
